STU anfvThe tradition of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava dates back over 75 years and currently comprises 7 faculties. STU participated in many International projects like 5th and 6th Framework Program, TEMPUS, COPERNICUS, UNESCO, PHARE, ESPRIT, NATO, CEEPUS, Socrates/Erasmus, GROWTH etc. Thanks to the long-term outcomes of research and education activities, STU is considered as the leading technical university of technology in Slovakia and has a wide international cooperation with universities around the World.

Within the STU faculties there is tradition in research among other in material research for automotive and mechanical industries, ion beam applications in materials modification and analyses, microelectronics, nanotechnologies etc.  

The current STU policy includes building Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), currently being developed within the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Among others the regional branch of the European Alliance for Innovation - Regional Office Slovakia (EAI REO SK) was established and the company STU Scientific Ltd. was founded acting as a specialized department of the STU to facilitate the transfer of university research results to innovations in the economy. Further, STU has adopted the policy of building science and technology parks as accelerators of innovation. Within this framework the scientific park CAMBO with its top-state-of-art-technology equipment of Ion and Plasma Technologies is being built within MTF Trnava. MTF STU has long tradition in material research focusing especially on machinery and automotive industry.
